Slocan Lake Golf Course
 | "A Golfer's Viewpoint" |
On the northern outskirts of New Denver is a delightful 9-hole golf course that will excite lovers of this sport. On a benchland above the Slocan Lake, this course parallels Highway 6 between New Denver and Rosebery. Drive north of the village and in three minutes you are there.
This isn't the Royal and Ancient Old Course of St. Andrews in Scotland so don't expect the most challenging course in the world but then this course will beat the R&A for access and scenery "hands down" (BCGA course rating 65.5, slope rating 106 for men and 69.9 and 121 for women). On most days and at most any time you can play without waiting - even on a Tuesday which is set aside as Ladies Day. But don't take my word for it, phone the clubhouse at 1-250-358-2408. Talk to Reg Broughton, the club manager and he will give you all the information you need.

Green fees are modest. Maintenance is immaculate and thorough and you can even rent clubs, power-carts or pull-joys. The pro shop is well-stocked with all sorts of supplies and memorabilia. But if you don't play golf, go into the clubhouse for a snack or a meal and enjoy the view looking south - I want to use that cliched and over-worked word - spectacular - but won't. Go see for yourself. No photo does it justice but this one will give you some idea.
Summary of Fees
9 holes--$15.00, 18 holes--$23.00, Weekly Rate--$130.00, Annual Membership--$331.00+tax.
